Le Conseil municipal de Tourcoing est composé de 53 élus. Le maire, ses 20 adjoints et les 25 conseillers municipaux constituent la majorité municipale. Ils ont en charge la gestion de la Ville et des priorités municipales.
Tourcoing is a particularly sports-loving town. A large number of disciplines are represented and several clubs operate at a national level. With TLM (volleyball), UST (football), handball, basketball, rink-hockey, water polo, wrestling, tennis and fencing, there’s something for everyone…

The Saint Christophe bell-tower is a historic monument (16th Century) and is the ideal place for a panoramic view of the town. It has one of the largest carillons in France, with 62 bells.N.B. You need courage to climb the 200 steps to the top… but your efforts will be rewarded: the view from up there is superb !

The Council has embarked on an ambitious development programme known as the “Swimming Pool Quadrilateral”: a strategic area covering 5 hectares between rue Nationale, rue du Bus, rue du Haze and rue Gabriel Péri.
The Town Council is the town’s decision-making body; it manages the budget and the town’s affairs. It meets regularly to vote in the decisions taken at municipal level.
